Career Planning Tips for Liberal Arts Majors: NACE Http://www.jobweb.com

  1. Have a clear understanding of what you want to do in a job (research careers/tasks/titles).
  2. Have a “focused” objective for your resume (focus on job title, department, or skills).
  3. Make a connection between your major and the job you seek. The employer will not try to figure out what you want to do.
  4. Be specific about how your courses, skills, and experiences apply to the job.
  5. Look for opportunities that address your personal interests and values.
  6. Know what the organization needs to accomplish its mission and goals.
  7. Know why you are right for the job (communicate what you have to offer, with enthusiasm).
