The Value of Friends at Work
1.5 Hours
Register
This presentation explores the value of friendships at work. Traditionally, managers and employees have steered clear of developing friends at work under the assumption that this eventually causes problems and that it is best to keep one’s personal life and work life separate. However, recent research from the Gallup group refutes this assumption and concludes that having friendships at work (including with your boss) improves job satisfaction, productivity, and retention rates.

The presentation reviews the Gallup research on friends at work, including the eight different roles that friends can play. Participants will have an opportunity to inventory the friends they have in the different roles and to reflect on ways that they can be a better friend to others.
Audience: A&P, Faculty, USPS, OPS, Student OPS
