The path to becoming an effective supervisor begins with an awareness of the difference between being responsible for one's own performance and being responsible for the coordinated work of others. Upon completion of this interactive workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify specific behaviors that our own most effective supervisors have modeled
- Balance the importance of task and process in developing leadership skills
- Create a positive, supportive work environment that engenders trust
- Understand the challenges of supervising one's former peers
- Keep in mind the four basic leadership styles/techniques, each of which work in specific, frequently encountered situations
- Use delegation as a way to develop subordinates and create time to perform supervisory functions
