External Scholarships

These scholarships are selected by the respective outside donors and are not part of the Coggin 'General' scholarships and fellowships. Scholarship awards are presented directly to the selected recipient at a professional meeting to be determined by the donor.

Scholarship Eligibility Award Deadline
FICPA Educational Foundation Scholarship
  • Must be a 4th or 5th year UNF degree-seeking, accounting majors who will have accumulated at least 90 semester hours of college coursework by the beginning of Fall 2019. Graduate students in the MAcc or MBA program with a concentration in accounting are eligible.
  • Must have completed the junior year with at least a 3.0 Cumulative GPA, a 3.0 UNF Institutional GPA, and a 3.0 Upper-Division Accounting GPA (3000 courses or above).
  • Must be a studnet member of the FICPA. Free to students.
  • Must plan to be enrolled in the upcoming Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters.
  • Primarily intended for full-time students to be registered for twelve (12) or more undergraduate semester hours or 9 or more graduate semester hours during the Fall 2019-Spring 2020 semesters. Part time students with a minimum of six (6) credit hours each term will be considered.
  • Must plan to sit for the CPA exam and be working towards fulfilling the requirements for certification in Florida.
  • Must indicate a desire to practice in the field of accounting as a CPA in the State of Florida.
  • Must be a Florida Resident and be a US citizen or hold permanent residency.
  • Financial need will be considered by the FICPA Educational Foundation.
  • Demonstrated professional, community, and/or charitable activities
  • Must submit an electronic letter of recommendation from at least one faculty member.
  • Candidates are eligible for up to two consecutive awards.

Hugh Van Seaton Memorial Scholarship
  • Must be enrolled as an undergraduate, degree-seeking student majoring in business -- preferably finance or accounting, at the University of North Florida during the Spring 2019 semester
  • Applicant must be a full-time student (enrolled for 12 credit hours) during the Spring 2019 semester
  • Must have completed at lease 60 semester hours at the end of the Fall 2018 semester
  • Must be a citizen of the United States or hold permanent residency status
  • Must have a minimum institutional UNF GPA of 3.0
  • Must plan to attend an FEI meeting in which the scholarship will be awarded

The granting of scholarship(s) is at the sole discretion of the Northern Florida Chapter of FEI, and shall be on a basis of educational achievement, financial need, and demonstrated professional, social, and charitable activities, as well as a short essay.

James Wilcox Endowed Scholarship
  • The scholarship is to be used for the purpose of completing the 5th year of accounting at any accredited college or university in the State of Florida.
  • Must be a degree-seeking accounting major who will have completed the senior year at the time the scholarship is received.
  • Must be an African-American student.
  • Must have at least a 3.0 Cumulative GPA, a 3.0 UNF institutional GPA, and a 3.0 Upper-Division Accounting GPA (3000 courses and above).
  • Must plan to be enrolled in the upcoming Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters.
  • Must be a student member of the FICPA. Free to students.

The granting of scholarships shall be on a basis of educational achievement, financial need, and demonstrated involvement with the FICPA and other professional, social, and charitable activities. The Trustees recognize that need can vary dependent upon significant factors including geographical considerations, work-place conditions, current employment, dependents, other obligations of the student, and parental support or lack thereof.

Ritchie Jennings Memorial Scholarship - Association of Certified Fraud Examiners Foundation
  • Must be currently enrolled full-time and plan to be enrolled full-time during the 2019-2020 academic year at an accredited, four-year college or university (Undergrads 9 hours per semester; Grad students 6 hours per semester)
  • Must have a declared major or minor in accounting, business administration, finance, or criminal justice
  • Must demonstrate a desire to pursue a career in fraud examination or similar anti-fraud profession
