At UNF I… once got a ticket for
parking over the white line in the parking lot. Not
sure if this remains a sought out offense with all of the
other parking challenges of today, but be careful when
pulling up to the car in front of you in a parking spot
in case they have not taken advantage of their full spot.
I am involved with the UNF Alumni
Chapter because…the
value of my degrees is more a reflection of what UNF is
today versus what UNF was when I obtained my degrees. I
have a desire to maintain that value, as well as give back
to the University that has contributed to the success I
have achieved.
My favorite thing about my job is…my
role in helping people. I help our clients get a
better understanding of the financial aspects of their
businesses and use that information to make effective business
decisions. I help our employees grow and develop
personally and professionally every single day. The “people” dynamics
is truly the most rewarding part of my job.
An interesting thing about my career
is…the
challenge of helping people understand exactly what I do. There
is so much diversity in the world of accounting and most
people think I do taxes.
It’s embarrassing, but I love…reading
weekly “people” magazines and keeping up with
goings on in the celebrity world. Although I have
a million other productive things that I could use such
time for, I see it as “down time.” Maybe
when my subscription (even more embarrassing) ends, I will
give it up.
I talk too much about…work. I
am a very driven, type-A personality that looks forward
to impacting the firm and its future. I have to be
careful to maintain that fine balance between work and
family.
I don’t like talking about…myself. Although
it might be hard to believe for those that know me, I grew
up a very shy person. I do have a coach that is helping
me understand the benefit of incorporating a little more “me” into
my conversations.
My favorite film is…Office
Space. I
even have a red stapler.
My most prized possession is…my
children and my family. I don’t really value “things” so
much, although I appreciate being able to have them. My
role as a mother and a wife are really highest on my priority
list.
I should try…to stop
and smell the roses. I am always so busy moving on to the
next goal, objective, or event that I spend little time
appreciating my accomplishments. After all, as noted
above, I don’t like talking about myself.
You should try…to find what you
love to do. In my career and my current position,
I absolutely love what I do and it contributes to my effectiveness
and my happiness at work and at home. |
