President
Delaney Announces
Two Business Flagship Programs
President John A. Delaney recently announced that
the Transportation & Logistics Program and the International
Business Program, both in the Coggin College of Business,
have been selected as the University’s latest flagship
programs.
“These two business programs are
of the highest caliber,” said President Delaney. “Each
has the potential to draw talented students from around
the world, tackle cutting-edge research projects and help
solve problems facing today’s businesses.”
This recognition of excellence will allow
the programs to grow and expand. With the additional flagship
funding, the Coggin College will establish a Logistics Information
Technology Solutions Laboratory, the only such facility
in the state. International Business will expand and enhance
study abroad activities, starting with new opportunities
for intensive language study, both on campus and abroad,
for students. Additional faculty leadership positions will
be added as well as a Study Abroad Director to lead the
program into the future.
“Both the International Business
and the Transportation & Logistics programs are an incredible
testament to the hard work of our faculty in the Coggin
College and the relevance of the programs to our students,
alumni and the business community,” said Dr.
John McAllister, Dean of the Coggin College.
Last fall, the Transportation & Logistics Program was
ranked 13th best in the country, ahead of programs at prestigious
colleges such as Stanford and Harvard. This innovative program
prepares students for careers in supply chain management,
international logistics, transportation and distribution.
UNF’s International Business Program was created 10
years ago and has quickly become a leader in preparing students
for careers in the global marketplace. A national exam that
all of our graduating seniors take places the Coggin College
in the top 5 percent, against more than 500 other schools,
in understanding global business concepts. The IB Program
prepares students for careers in the global marketplace
by supplementing their knowledge of general business issues
with courses that teach functional business areas from an
international perspective.
