Walter
L. Moore Establishes
Endowed Graduate Fellowship
Walter Moore, a retired
paper industry executive who has been involved with UNF
since the 1980s, recently committed to support a new endowed
graduate fellowship in the Coggin College of Business.
The Walter L. Moore Endowed
Graduate Fellowship will be awarded each year to promising
students who are enrolled in the MBA program in the Coggin
College, and are serving as graduate assistants. The awarded
fellow will also have the opportunity to work on research
projects supporting the PAPER Institute. In keeping with
Moore’s background, preference will be given if students
who apply are employees or offspring of companies in the
National Paper Trade Association.
“I am delighted to
support the Coggin College of Business in this important
way,” said Walter Moore. “Investing in this
fellowship will support bright graduate students with the
opportunity to work on significant research in the paper
industry.”
“We are honored that
Walter is supporting the college and its students in this
significant way,” noted Dr. John McAllister, Dean
of the Coggin College of Business. “This gift is another
example of the generosity of business leaders and individuals
who devote their time, experience and resources to our students
and programs. Walter’s generosity will inspire and
support graduate students within the college for many, many
years to come.”
Moore served on the UNF
Foundation Board from 1983 until 1986. He was also instrumental
in establishing the Unijax Endowed Scholarship at UNF and
the Eminent Scholar Chair. Moore and his wife, Mary Ann,
are residents of both Jacksonville and Asheville, North
Carolina.
The PAPER Institute
was created from an Eminent Scholar Chair position funded
by the PAPER Foundation in the 1980s. More information about
the PAPER Institute can be found in this issue of Coggin
