SIFE Team Wins
at Regional Competition
and Competes at National Competition
The UNF Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) team returned
to Jacksonville as winners after participating in the SIFE
USA Regional Competition in April 2005 in Atlanta. The event
was one of 21 SIFE USA Regional Competitions being held
across the United States.
After presenting a report
of their year-long community outreach projects to a panel
of business leaders, the SIFE team was named a SIFE USA
Regional Champion in the overall competition and a finalist
in the SIFE USA National Free Market Economics Competition.
The team advanced to the national level of SIFE competition
at the SIFE USA National Exposition in May 2005 in Kansas
City and made it all the way to the semi-finals!
SIFE is
an international non-profit organization active on over
1,800 university campuses in more than 40 countries. SIFE
teams create economic opportunities in their communities
by organizing outreach projects that teach: market economics,
entrepreneurship, personal financial success skills and
business ethics. Their projects are judged at competition
on creativity, innovation and effectiveness. During the
past academic year, the SIFE team developed and completed
18 educational outreach projects in the Jacksonville community
to promote the principles of entrepreneurship.
