Do
I need a professional resume to apply for internships?
Yes. An internship is really a short-term job, so you
should treat it like a job. The Coggin College of
Business Career
Management Center can work with you
to develop a professional resume. Once you have consulted
with them and created a resume that meets their standards,
you have a professional resume.
|
| |
Can
I do the resume myself?
It's up to you, of course, but
why not take advantage of the excellent support
that you paid for when you registered for classes?
The Career Services staff know what employers look
for in a resume. They also know how you can make
the most of your experiences on your resume. Remember,
the resume is your first shot at marketing yourself
to potential internship employers. Do not hesitate
to contact the Career
Management Center.
|
| |
What
else can I do to prepare my resume?
The UNF
library has a number of excellent
references on resume-building. Or visit the resources webpage offered by the Career
Management Center.

| |
How
do I find out about internship opportunities?
Contact the International Business
Internship Coordinator
to discuss opportunities. You must have a professional
resume before you do this. A list of possible opportunities
& resources has been provided if you wish to find
your own internship.
|
| |
Can
I do my internship abroad?
Yes. In fact, this is the best
way to complete your internship. The Center for Interntional
Business Studies has internships available abroad. Contact
the Internship
Coordinator.
|
| |
Can
I do my internship in the Jacksonville area?
Yes. Most students have engaged
in local internships. You can find your internship or
work with the Internship
Coordinator to find an internship that suits your
goals.
|
| |
Will
my internship be paid?
Everyone wants a paid internship.
However, we cannot guarantee that the internship that
we set up for you will be paid. If that's a requirement
for you, then you must work hard to find yourself a
paid position.
|
| |
When
should I start the process of finding my internship?
Begin searching for and planning
your internship months before you plan to start the
internship. There are deadlines
for applying for internships. Your internship must
be completely set up prior to registration for the
course for internship credit.
|
| |
What
happens if I miss the deadlines?
If you miss the deadline to apply
for your internship, then you will be placed at the
bottom of the list and you might not get an internship
for the semester you want one. Of course, you can
still set up your own. If you don't have your internship
set up before registration begins, you will not be
able to register for the internship. It is a job--
meet your deadlines!
|
| |
How
do I register for an internship?
See the Instructions
page.
|
| |
What
are the minimum requirements for an internship?
The internship must consist
of a minimum of 180 hours of work experience. That
time is equivalent to 12 hours per week for 15 weeks.
Of course, we encourage you to work more to maximize
the benefit of the internship for both you and your
employer. The internship
must involve international business experience.
|
| |
How
is the "international experience" requirement
defined?
The Internship
Coodinator must approve all internships. He makes
the final determination about whether an internship
involves a sufficient international component.
|
| |
Do
I need verification from the internship provider?
Yes. The Internship
Coordinator must give you electronic permission
to register for your internship. He will not do so
without first receiving a letter, on company letterhead,
from the internship provider.
