Internship
Employer Information
Thank you for participating in our internship program. The
International Business Program (IBP) is an undergraduate major
in international business at the University of North Florida
Coggin College of Business. A list of companies for International Business Internship Programs can be found here. Students seeking internships will
have completed at least three of the following courses:
|
International Ecomonics |
|
International Finance |
|
International Management |
|
International Marketing |
They might also have completed other international courses,
such as courses about a particular country or region of the
world. Some of our American students are fluent in foreign
languages, and all have had some training in a foreign language.
In addition, we have several foreign students.
Should you decide to hire one of our interns, please be advised
of the following criteria:
| |
Students must work a minimum
of 180 hours. However, we encourage students to work more
hours, to maximize the benefits both to them and to their
employers. |
| |
Interns must be involved in the international
aspects of your business. |
| |
Our students are bright, energetic, and
motivated. We believe that you should compensate them
for their work. A rate of $8.00 per hour is suggested.
However, financial details are ultimately between you
and your intern. |
In order for students to participate in the internship program,
the IBP director must approve each internship in advance.
In order to do that, we require
employers to submit a letter, in English and on company letterhead,
providing the following information:
| |
The name of the intern. |
| |
The name and contact information for the
intern's immediate supervisor in the company. |
| |
A brief description of the company and
the business in which it engages. |
| |
The starting and ending dates of the internship. |
| |
The number of hours that the intern will
work each week. |
| |
A job description for the internship. |
| |
Any deliverables, if applicable (e.g.,
final report). |
| |
The financial arrangements. |
This letter should be sent to the International Business
Internship Coordinator
information.)
Once the internship begins, the director will contact you
on a regular basis to discuss the student's progress and your
satisfaction with the internship. You are, of course, invited
to contact the director at any time.
