Why
should I enroll in the GlobalMBA program?
All
business is global. Even firms that don’t sell
their goods and services abroad probably purchase at
least some inputs from abroad. Outsourcing to China and elsewhere
has become commonplace. Moreover, any company can face
strong competition from foreign firms at any time. Managers
can no longer view the rest of the world economy as an afterthought.
The GlobalMBA program allows students to learn about international
business in a unique way by traveling, living and studying
abroad and working closely with foreign students and faculty.
In addition, you will be part of a cohort, allowing you to
form a life-long network of friendships that will help you
throughout your career. |

What is a cohort?
A cohort is a group of students who
stay together throughout an entire program. In the GlobalMBA,
each university in the consortium selects a small group
of who together comprise the GlobalMBA cohort. Traditionally,
the GlobalMBA includes forty students who study together
every term. |
|
| |
Does the GlobalMBA include electives?
No. We have planned the GlobalMBA curriculum carefully
to maximize the benefits of the four universities' strengths.
|
|
| |
When does a new GlobalMBA
cohort begin?
A new cohort begins the
GlobalMBA curriculum every fall. |
|
| |
Can I take the GlobalMBA
on a part-time basis?
No.
The cohort nature of
the GlobalMBA requires full-time participation. |
|
| |
Can
I work part-time while I am in the
program?
In your home country, yes. Abroad, you may if your visa status
permits it. However, the GlobalMBA is an intensive, full-time
program with significant out-of-class teamwork. Working might
interfere with your academic success and affect the performance
of your teammates. |
|
| |
What do employers think
of the GlobalMBA?
The business community is very excited about professional
education that features a multinational focus. To understand
their perspectives, read these testimonials . |
|
| |
What
is the language of instruction in the GlobalMBA? Do I
need to know a foreign language?
All instruction is in English, regardless
of the country in which you are studying. All students
and faculty participating in the GlobalMBA are fluent
in English. |
|
| |
Who
is eligible for admission?
Each consortium
institution selects approximately 10 students per year
to participate in the GlobalMBA program. In
order to participate, students must have earned an undergraduate
degree prior to beginning the GlobalMBA program. Students
must also meet certain admission
requirements. |
|
| |
Will I need a student visa?
Visa
requirements vary across countries and change over time.
Visit the Visas page
for current visa information. |
|
| |
What
degrees will I earn?
Visit the Degrees page
for the listing of degrees earned upon successful completion
of the GlobalMBA program. |
|
| |
Who will make arrangements
for my travel?
Students are responsible for making their own international
travel arrangements. Consortium universities can provide
advice. |
|
| |
Will there be time
for me to travel during the terms?
You will be pretty busy with the GlobalMBA curriculum,
but we strongly encourage you to see as much as you can.
The more varied experiences you have while you are abroad,
the better prepared you will be for a career in international
business. There is very limited time between some terms to
travel. Check out the Travel
Schedule. |
|
| |
Will classes
be just like the ones I’m used to at home?
No. As with international business, educational practice
is based on the culture of the country. Since the underlying
cultures differ significantly, you should expect the
methods of instruction to vary, too. For instance, textbooks
are almost always required in Germany and the US, but
Polish instructors might provide their published works
for classes. Another example is that in Germany and the
US, you will be expected to devote 2-3 hours of study
outside of class for every hour that you are in class.
Polish courses tend to be more intensive than the semester-long
teaching model that the others use. At the beginning of the
first semester, the GlobalMBA holds an orientation session
designed to prepare you for studying and living in abroad. |
|
| |
Where will I live?
Students are responsible for making their own housing
arrangements. Each consortium university provides resources
for local housing. Many students choose to live in shared
apartments or dormitories which allow you to experience
local culture more intensively. Visit the "Current Students"
section of this website for detailed
housing information from each university. |
|
| |
If I have problems
abroad, will I have anyone to help me?
Yes. Every consortium university has a designated student
representative for
the GlobalMBA who will ease your transition
and to help you succeed in the program. |
|
| |
Will
leaving a current position to pursue a GlobalMBA adversely
affect me?
We encourage you to view the GlobalMBA as a way to enhance
your career by expanding your skill set. Therefore, we
support students who take a leave from their positions
to complete the GlobalMBA. Program alumni have universally
indicated that the GlobalMBA opened many exciting new doors
for them. |
|
| |
Will distance learning
be a part of the GlobalMBA?
Distance learning
typically means that students and faculty seldom, if
ever, meet face-to-face. The GlobalMBA is not a distance
learning program. The primary mode of learning
is a traditional classroom setting. However, communication
technology for education is quite advanced, allowing
us to utilize “blended learning”,
which implies a using a combination of face-to-face meetings
and communication through technology when appropriate. |
|
| |
How much will the
GlobalMBA cost me?
You can find detailed cost estimates on the Fees
& Tuition page, which lists both tuition costs as
well as travel and living expenses. Living expenses are similar
to those you would face in the US, so the incremental cost
is low (depending upon exchange rates). |
