Dongbei
University of Finance & Economics
Dongbei University of Finance & Economics (DUFE) is
a first-rate higher education institution of economics
and management in China. It was founded in 1952. DUFE
consists of 30 schools and institutions with 12,000 full-time
students. Up to now, the University has established
cooperative relations with 59 foreign universities with
14 countries. Every year, hundreds of international students
from more than 30 countries study at DUFE. The School of
International Business (SIB) was founded in 2002 to create
learning experiences for students to succeed in a global
environment.
Dalian, China
Dalian is a beautiful coastal city at the southern tip
of the Liaodong Pensula in China which is Considered a
trading and financial center in northeastern Asia. The
Zhongshan District, a bustling downtown area of the city,
is decorated with historical heritage, local flavor, and
modern charm. Dalian is not far from the Yellow Sea and
the inland Bohai Sea where students will enjoy the local
seafood, which is also easily found at a reasonable price! |

Students from
CUAS, UW, and UNF should submit the following documents electronically
to globalmba@dufe.edu.cn by December
21. Students from DUFE do not need to submit these
materials:
• Complete application form (above)
• Curriculum vitae or resume
• Copy of your passport
Afterwards, DUFE will mail the invitation letter to the students. Students can
take this invitation letter to apply for the required visa. |

Housing
|

|
On-Campus
School of International Business provides international students
with on-campus dormitories in International House. There
are two types of rooms at the International House. Both options
have a single bedroom with basic furniture, air-conditioner,
and sharing a kitchen and bathroom with a neighbor. The other
option is a community kitchen shared with 15 other people. Facilities
inside the room can best serve their purposes, which allow
participants to watch TV programs, have access to the Internet
on a daily basis, and make common telephone calls. Kitchens
are equipped with electronic appliances such as microwave
stove, refrigerator. The laundry room locates on the first
floor. We don’t guarantee that all of accommodation
application will be accepted, because of the limitation of
rooms. Please apply early.
Off-Campus
There are a number of private off-campus apartments
near Dongbei University of Finance and Economics’ campus.
If students would like to live off-campus, they are expected
to make housing arrangements in advance. |

Getting
Around
|
|
|
The transportation around the University is convenient
to connect with almost all directions of the Dalian city. Buses are
the main form of public transport and most services run
very frequently. Taxis are also plentiful. Drivers are
usually friendly and willing to help out foreigners. Very
few understand English, however, so either knowledge of
Mandarin Chinese or written directions to the destination
is a must. The university is ten kilometers away from downtown,
where the railway station and shopping area are located.
Estimated Cost:
The typical wait between
buses is only about 5-10 minutes and the price is 1 or
2 RMB. Taxi rates start at 8 RMB for the first 3 kilometer
and 1.8-2.0 RMB for each additional kilometer with higher
rates (10 RMB) at night (after 10pm). To be in the downtown,
it takes 15-25 minutes by bus (Bus 23, 901 and 801) and
15 minutes by taxi with 25 RMB more or less. It is fifteen
kilometers away from Dalian International Airport-called
zhoushuizi and it is about 25 minutes by taxi and less
than 30 RMB. |

Textbooks
& Course Materials
|
|
|
Students are expected to have a copy of the required
texts for each course. After the list of textbooks is determined
by professors, students can purchase textbooks from on-campus
bookstores or off-campus bookstores. Students will also
receive some reading material and resources in class. |

Electricity:
China’s
civil use electrical power is 220V, 50 HZ. Plugs can be
three-pronged angled, three-pronged round, two flat pins.
So make sure to check the electrical appliances.
Drinking Water:
In China, not all the
tap water is drinkable, but bottled mineral water can
be bought everywhere.
Office Hours:
In China, office hours
run from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The time from 11:30 am to
1:00 pm is lunch time. The five days from Monday till Friday
are working days. |
