Osprey's Positions
Chief Administrator (appointed by the faculty advisor)
- principally responsible for the continuous operations of the fund
- works closely with the faculty advisor in ensuring the highest degree of team professionalism
- supervises the preparation of the Annual Report and Luncheon
Accountant
- maintains the official books for the SMIF
- prepares monthly and semester reports for the UNF Administration
- responsible for liaison with the university and the auditors
Statistician
- works closely with the accountant to compile weekly descriptive statistical information of the fund (beta, P/E, allocation weights, etc.)
Economists
- monitor the economic environment in each geographic sector and forecast effects on the portfolio
Chief Economist, North America
- coordinates the activities of the economists and produces a weekly newsletter for the class
- tracks interest rates and attempts to forecast rates and their impact on bond markets
Europe
Latin America
Asia
Operations Manager
- maintains the physical facilities under SMIF control
- keeps records of meeting agendas, minutes, and all reports generated by analysts and economists
- corresponds with the business community and the media
Webmasters
- design and maintain the internet web page for the SMIF
- responsible for updating holdings of the fund on the website
- corresponds with the business community and the media
Technical Analysts
- responsible for providing a technical opinion on every security presented by the equity analysts in order to provide additional insight into the timing of transactions
Special Projects Coordinators
- research and report on emerging issues deemed pertinent to the operation of the fund
- for the inaugural SMIF, these positions will include the design of the forthcoming trading room
