İzmir is one of the fastest-growing cruise-ship ports on the Aegean peninsula and an excellent base for trips to nearby Ephesus and Pergamon. The Ancient Ephesus City placed among the most famous ancient cities is included ın the boundaries of İzmir. At the west of İzmir lies the Çeşme peninsula, with its wonderfully colored sea, beaches and thermal centers. İzmir is among Turkey's main cities in terms of tourism. İzmir is among four international cities that are vying to hold the World Expo in 2020, having much to offer visitors: a renovated waterfront, an ever-evolving night-life district and slick new design hotels. Meanwhile, a vast traditional bazaar and the spectacular nearby ruins of Ephesus bear witness to a rich past.

Application Material

Applying for a Coggin semester abroad program is a multi-step process. Please refer to the steps below to get started! Remember: application materials are submitted the semester before you plan to go abroad!

                Step 1: Meet with the semester study abroad advisor, Ms. Shelby Huber

                Step 2: Submit your scholarship and application materials

                Step 3: Continue personal advising with the semester study abroad advisor

                Step 4: Attend a Safety Session and Pre-Departure Orientation

                Step 5: Check in with the semester study abroad advisor when you complete Step 4!

Other Information

Accommodation

Gediz University does currently provide on-campus housing. In the application form, students must indicate their accommodation preferences, especially if they want to stay on Gediz University dormitories. In this respect the International Relations Office will do its best to accommodate all students. In addition, the International Students Office staff helps the students who prefer not to stay in dorms to find roommates and to rent apartments. Please do not hesitate to contact the International Students Office at iso@gediz.edu.tr with any questions you might have about housing.

 

Academic Calendar

The fall semester runs from late September to mid January; the spring semester runs from early February to early June. View Gediz University's 2013-2014 Academic Calendar and the Course Catalogue.

 

Turkish Language Courses

At this time, Gediz University does not offer Turkish language courses for non-native speakers of Turkish.

 

Visa & Health Insurance Information

Students are required to individually obtain the necessary visa for study abroad prior to departure. Most semester programs are more than 90 days. Students should visit the U.S. Department of State webpage which links to each country's Embassy. Many visa applications must be made in person — please plan ahead! For additional visa information and to discuss UNF's requirement for health insurance coverage, please visit UNF's International Center (Building 58E, Room 2300).
