Kempten, Germany

The city of Kempten (Allgäu) has 65,000 inhabitants and is situated near the foothills of the Alps in the heart of the Allgäu region. The neighboring countries Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein are only a good hour away by car as is Munich, the capital of Bavaria. Kempten is in the midst of the mountain-and-lake region located in the southwest of Bavaria which has a mix of urbanity, rural life, business, entertainment, culture, history, sports, shopping, education and sustainability. The Alps, green pastures, and lakes offer unforgettable leisure and sports facilities throughout the year. Skiing in winter, hiking and mountain biking in summer, there are great ways to spend your time away from your studies. The spectacular landscape is crowned by the fairy-tale castles of King Ludwig II., Neuschwanstein and Hohen-schwangau.
