Established in 1985, the School of Business of Sun Yat-sen University is one of the earliest Business Schools in China. Based on the profound cultural and academic tradition of the parent University, and supported by overseas and domestic foundations, the School of Business has become one of the best institutions for training high-caliber business executives and entrepreneurs in China. The main campus of the University is located in Guangzhou, the center city of the Zhujiang River Delta. With a total area of 6.17 square kilometers, the University has altogether 4 campuses with three of them located in Guangzhou and one in Zhuhai City.
Guangzhou is a port on the Pearl River, navigable to the South China Sea, and is located about 120 km (75 miles) northwest of Hong Kong. As of the 2000 census, the city has a population of 6 million, and an urban area population of roughly 11.85 million. The provincial government's official estimate of the metropolitan area's population at the end of 2006 was 9,754,600. Guangzhou's urban land area is the third largest in China, behind only Beijing and Shanghai.
