About Dongbei University of Finance & Economics (DUFE)

Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE)  is located just west of Zinghai Park in Dalian, China. The campus lies near a state-level scenic area and has been well known for it's tranquility since it was founded in 1952. It is one of the oldest and largest universities in Dalian, with over 20,000 students in attendance annually. The university offers a number of different focuses for degrees, including economics, management, law, arts, and science. The employment rate among graduates is extremely high and the university is among the top 3 in China for Finance and Economics.

Dalian is a major seaport city in the south of the Liaoning province of China, located at the tip of the Liaodong peninsula. It is the southernmost city of northeast China and the northernmost warm water port, a major reason for its significant history as a port for foreign powers. It is the second largest city in its province, as well a financial and logistics center for Northeast Asia, sometimes referred to as the Hong Kong of Northern China. It has been voted the city with the best living environment in China on several occassions.

Submit the following materials directly to Alyssa Kyff (Building 10, Room 2125) not to the exchange partner or other UNF offices:

  • Program Application
  • Copy of valid passport
  • Updated resume
  • 6 passport-sized photos or a jpeg file

Submit the following materials directly to the UNF International Center (Building 58E, Room 2300) not to the exchange partner or other UNF offices:

  • UNF Study Abroad Information Packet (available from the International Center)
  • Copy of visa, once obtained
  • International health insurance information, once obtained

Other Information

Accommodation

DUFE does currently provide on-campus housing. The International House(I-House) arranges housing for international exchange students and foreign teachers, as well as short-term visiting scholars.

 

Academic Calendar

The fall semester runs from early September to mid January; the spring semester runs from early March to mid-July.

 

Chinese Language Courses

Intensive Chinese language courses are offered by DUFE'S International Institute of Chinese Language & Culture (IICLC). The courses are divided into six levels of difficulty to accommodate the varying levels of students. Language specific to business and finance is also taught in higher level classes. 

 

 

Visa & Health Insurance Information

Students are required to individually obtain the necessary visa for study abroad prior to departure. Most semester programs are more than 90 days. Students should visit the U.S. Department of State webpage which links to each country's Embassy. Many visa applications must be made in person — please plan ahead! For additional visa information and to discuss UNF's requirement for health insurance coverage, please visit UNF's International Center (Building 58E, Room 2300).
