Fingerprinting Requirements and Information

image of a fingerprintThe Law: Under provisions of the Jessica Lunsford Act passed during the 2005 Legislative Session, school districts are required to conduct background screenings on instructional and non-instructional personnel and contractors who have direct contact with students or have access to school grounds when children are present. Section 1012.465, Florida Statutes.

This State rule (FS 1012.32 (2)(d)) states that students participating in field experiences in school districts must be fingerprinted. These field experiences include UNF students enrolled in EDF 1005, EDG 2701, EDF 3945, EDF 3946, TSL 4340, internship, all courses held at school sites or that require students to work with children in a school setting.
