OBJECTIVE AND PURPOSE:

To revise and establish the criteria for admission to undergraduate degree programs in the College of Education and Human Services

AUTHORITY:

Florida Administrative Rule 6A-5.0601; Senate Bill 1018; Academic Affairs Policy; COEHS Constitution; Florida Statute 240.529 as revised by the Florida legislature, 2002.

POLICY:

Those entering the College of Education and Human Services must meet University admissions requirements as well as specific COEHS admissions criteria. Students who have not satisfactorily completed 60 semester hours of college level credit but meet University admissions standards are admitted as Lower Division students (freshmen or sophomores). Students who have completed 60 semester hours or more of college credit and meet COEHS admissions criteria are admitted directly into the COEHS as Upper Division students (juniors or seniors). Listed below are the criteria for admission into the College of Education and Human Services at the upper division:  

1. Satisfactory completion of 60 semester hours of credit from UNF or other regionally accredited institution(s). An Associate in Arts Degree (AA) from one of Florida’s public community colleges or SUS schools satisfies General Education and Gordon Rule requirements.

2. A minimum of a C grade in all lower and upper level classes required for the major. This requirement includes all General Education and prerequisite course work.

3. A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 or better in all college level course work taken at UNF as well as from all previously attended institutions.

4. Passing scores (no exemptions) on all four parts of the College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) or the Florida General Knowledge (GK) Test. If GK scores are being used, students must meet the UNF CLAST exemption requirement for all four parts. Transferring students, students changing majors, or students who have not presented passing scores on all parts of the CLAST or GK exam will be permitted to earn up to 14 semester hours of upper level education course work during which time they must satisfy this requirement as a tentatively admitted student. Students who have earned 14 credits of upper level education course work and have not presented passing scores on all parts of the CLAST or GK tests will be blocked from further registration until such scores are received.
