Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship ($300 for academic year)                      

  • Must be a junior who has been admitted to an education program within the COEHS.

  • Must enroll in at least 6 semester hours during the term the award is used.

  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.

  • Must attach a one-page typed essay explaining how you would benefit from this scholarship.

  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

 

Delta Kappa Gamma Beta Rho Scholarship ($500 for academic year)

  • Must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in the College of Education and Human Services.
  • Must enroll in at least 6 semester hours during the term the award is used.
  • Must be a Florida Resident for tuition purposes.
  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.
  • Must attach a one-page typed essay explaining how you would benefit from this scholarship.
  • Must submit an unofficial transcript showing a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Dorothy G. Johnson Family and Friends Community Leadership Council Endowed Scholarship  ($1000 for academic year)

  • Must major in Education in the College of Education and Human Services.
  • Must enroll as a junior or senior with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Must enroll full time (12 credit hrs).
  • Must reside in Florida for tuition purposes.
  • Student athletes will receive special consideration. If you are an athlete, please use an essay to describe your involvement in athletics.
  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.
  • Must attach a one-page typed essay explaining how you would benefit from this scholarship.

 

Marianne B. and Lehman W. Barnes Science Education Endowed Scholarship Fund
(Graduate and Undergraduate) ($500)

Exciting New Scholarship Opportunity for Secondary Science Majors with an Emphasis In Science Education.

Requirements for applying:

  • Florida Resident
  • Must be an admitted undergraduate or graduate student in the COEHS.
  • Enrolled full-time (12 credit hours – undergraduate, 9 credit hours graduate) during the semester scholarship is to be used.
  • Major in secondary science education (if an undergraduate candidate) or declare an emphasis in science education (if a graduate candidate).
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must consent to release grades.
  • Must attach a typed one-page statement of purpose.
  • Must attach two letters of recommendation from a professor or and/or a school professional (i.e. principal).

Josephine S. Burgoyne Scholarship ($500 for odd academic year)         

  • Must be a US citizen.

  • Must be an undergraduate student enrolled in a math education program or a rising junior who plans to enroll in a math education program in the COEHS.

  • Must enroll in at least 6 semester hours during the term(s) the award is used.

  • Must attach one letter of recommendation from a math or math education professor with application.

  • Must attach a two-page typed essay stating why you want to become a math teacher and why the money is needed.

  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.

    D. Chanslor Howell Graduate Scholarship ($500 for academic year) 

  • Must be a US citizen.

  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 graduate hours during the term the award is used. 

  • Preference will be given to in-service teachers in special education graduate program.

  • Must attach two letters of recommendation from persons in the field of education. 

  • Must attach a one-page typed essay explaining your professional goals.

  • Must have a cumulative GPA Of 3.0 or higher.

 

Carolyn Osburn Memorial Scholarship ($500 for academic year)          

  • Must be an admitted undergraduate or graduate student in the COEHS.

  • Must enroll in at least 6 credit hours during the term the award is used.

  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.

  • Must submit a one-page typed essay explaining how you would benefit from this scholarship.

  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

 

Graduate Scholarship ($1000 for semester)                                     

  • Must be an admitted graduate student in the COEHS.

  • Must have 80% of course work completed in the program of study.

  • Must enroll in at least 6 semester hours during the term the award is used.

  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.

  • Must attach a one-page typed essay answering 1) How has your academic achievement at UNF, your service to UNF or your service to a community agency prepared you for success in your chosen career? 2) How will you benefit from receiving this scholarship?

  • Must have a cumulative GPA. of 3.5 or higher.

 

Undergraduate Scholarship ($1000 for one semester)                    

  • Must be a senior in the COEHS with a minimum of 15 semester hours completed at UNF.

  • Teaching majors: must be eligible for student internship the term the scholarship is awarded.

  • Non-teaching majors: must be eligible for graduation the term the scholarship is awarded.

  • Must enroll in at least 12 semester hours during the term the award is used.

  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.

  • Must attach a one-page typed essay answering 1) How has your academic achievement at UNF, your service to UNF or your service to a community agency prepared you for success in your chosen career? 2) How will you benefit from receiving this scholarship?

  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

   

Robert and Peggy Ware Community Leadership Council Endowed Scholarship - – ($1,000 each)

  • Preference for one scholarship each year must be given to a student majoring in Special Education.

  • Must meet admission requirements and be accepted to the College of Education and Human Services as an undergraduate or graduate student.

  • Must reside in the state of Florida for tuition purposes.

  • Must have and maintain a minimum UNF GPA of at least 3.00.

  • Must demonstrate financial need as defined by the University’s Office of Financial Aid

  • Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  • Must enroll full-time (12 cr) each semester and earn  minimum of 24 credits by the end of each academic year for undergraduate students; enroll at least part time (6 cr) for graduate students.

  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.

  • Must remain in good standing as a student.

  • Must submit a one-page typed essay explaining how you would benefit from this scholarship.

Renewal:

Current recipients may apply for renewal and will be given preference pending availability of funds.  No student will be eligible to receive more than 4 semesters of scholarship support.

 

Luca Dee Soileau Endowed Scholarship – ($1,500 each)

  • Must be an admitted junior or senior student in COEHS majoring in elementary education.

  • Must earn a minimum UNF GPA of at least 3.0

  • Must enroll full-time each semester and earn a minimum of 24 credits by the end of each academic year.

  • Must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 during the semester the award is used.

  • Must submit an transcript showing cumulative GPA of 2.5 for junior or senior years, and 3.0 for graduate students.

  • Must remain in good standing as a student.

  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.

  • Must submit a one-page typed essay explaining how you would benefit from this scholarship.

Renewal:

Current recipients may apply for renewal and will be given preference pending availability of funds.  No student will be eligible to receive more than 4 semesters of scholarship support

 

St. Joe Company Endowed Scholarship – ($1,200 each)

  • Must be an admitted undergraduate or graduate student in COEHS.

  • Must meet College of Education and Human Services requirements for admission and pursue, at the junior, senior or graduate level, a degree in education, with preference given to students wishing to teach in an urban school and / or specialize in ESOL teaching strategies.

  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 for junior or senior years, and 3.0 for graduate students.

  • Must remain in good standing as a student.

  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.

  • Must submit a one-page typed essay explaining how you would benefit from this scholarship.

  • Must be enrolled full-time during the term the award is used.

Renewal:

Current recipients may apply for renewal and will be given preference pending availability of funds.  No undergraduate or transfer student will be eligible to receive more than 4 semesters or 65 credit hours of scholarship support or no more than 6 semesters and 36 credit hours for graduate students.  Scholarship funds will be available for fall and spring terms. 

 

Dannehl and Kevin Twomey Endowed Scholarship – ($1,000 each)

  • Must meet College of Education and Human Services requirements for admission.

  • Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA for junior and senior students, and cumulative 3.5 for graduate students and pursue, at the junior, senior or graduate level, a degree in education, with preference given to students pursuing a teaching career in an urban school.  An urban school is defined as a school with a high percentage of students on free or reduced lunch programs, a high mobility and absentee rate, a high percentage of minority and immigrant students and a high percentage of low socio-economic status students.

  • Must consent to release grades to the Division of Institutional Advancement for the purpose of reporting to the donor,

  • Must comply with all University regulations, rules, and codes of conduct governing students on campus.

  • Must remain in good standing as a student.

  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.

  • Must submit a one-page typed essay explaining how you would benefit from this scholarship.

  • Must be enrolled full-time during the term the award is used.

Renewal:

  • Recipients meeting the criteria may apply for renewal and will be given preference pending availability of funds.

  • Undergraduate or transfer students will be eligible to receive up to 4 semesters or 65 credits of scholarship support or up to 6 semesters and 36 credit hours for graduate students.

Urban Education Scholarship – ($1,000 each) [Need Based]

  • Must meet admissions requirements and be accepted into the College of Education and Human Services.

  • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

  • Must major in an area leading to the Florida Teacher Certification.

  • Must intend to work in an urban school environment.

  • Must enroll full time (12 cr) each semester and earn a minimum of 24 credits by the end of each academic year

  • Must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 during the junior and senior years

  • Must comply with all University regulations, rules, and codes of conduct governing students on campus.

  • Must consent to release grades to the Division of Institutional Advancement for the purpose of reporting to the donors.

  • Must remain in good standing as a student.

  • Must demonstrate financial need through the submission of a 2 page double spaced statement answering the question "Why I need the Urban Education Scholarship to help me reach my education goals?"

  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.

  • Must be enrolled full-time during the term the award is used.

 

Ellis F. White Scholarship ($1,000 each) [Need Based]                           

  • Must meet College of Education and Human Services requirements for admission and pursue, at the junior, senior or graduate level, a degree in education.

  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 for junior or senior years, and a cumulative 3.4 for graduate students.

  • Must demonstrate financial need. Through the submission of a 2 page double spaced statement answering the question “Why I need the Ellis White Founding Faculty Scholarship to help me reach my education goals?

  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.

  • Must be enrolled full-time during the term the award is used.

Renewal:

Current recipients may apply for renewal.  No undergraduate or transfer student will be eligible to receive more than 4 semesters or 65 credit hours of scholarship support or no more than 6 semesters and 36 credit hours for graduate students.

 

Kristi Wilder “Are You My Friend?” Endowed Scholarship [Need Based]   

  • •Must be a fully admitted College of Education and Human Services student majoring in Special Education as a senior or graduate student.

  • •Must reside in Nassau , Baker, Clay, St. Johns or Duval County.

  • •Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  • •Must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0

  • •Must earn a minimum of 9 credits by the end of each academic year.

  • •Must attach a one page typed essay explaining how you would benefit from this scholarship.

  • •Must submit an transcript showing cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • •Must attach two academic professional letters of reference.

Renewal:

Current recipients may apply for renewal and will be given preference pending availability of funds.  No student will be eligible to receive more than 9 semesters of scholarship support.

 

  Sir Colville Young Endowed Scholarship ($1,400)

  • Must be a citizen of Belize.

  • Must be a full-time junior or senior (enrolled for 12 credit hours) or graduate level student (9 credit hours).

  • Must be admitted into the College of Education and Human Services

  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 at time of application.

  • Must attach a two page typed essay explaining what professional benefits you would receive from scholarship.

  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.

  • Must attach a copy of your most recent transcript.

  • Must submit GRE scores (Graduate applicants only).

  • Must complete the application and submit with the documentation in one packet.

Kristin McCall Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)

  • Must be a resident of Florida.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must be a full-time junior or senior (enrolled for 12 credit hours min.) in the College of Education and Human Services majoring in elementary education.
  • Must attach a one page typed essay explaining how you would benefit from this scholarship.
  • Must attach two academic professional letters of reference.

  Florida School Book Depository Graduate Fellowship ($1,800 each)

  • Must be an admitted doctoral or master’s student in the COEHS.

  • Must submit an transcript showing cumulative GPA. of 3.0 or higher.

  • Must enroll in at least 6 credit hours during the term the award is used.

  • Must attach a type one-page statement of purpose.

  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.

  • Must consent to release grades to the Division of Institutional Advancement for the purpose of reporting to the donor.

Renewal:

Recipients may reapply and will be given preference pending availability of funding.  Recipients may reapply for up to two graduate fellowship renewals.  Applicant renewals must meet the following criteria.

  • Must enroll for at least one graduate course each semester and earn at least an additional nine graduate credits by the end of each spring term.

  • Must maintain a minimum graduate cumulative GPA of 3.0

  • Must remain in good standing as a student.

  • No student will be eligible for more than two renewals of this scholarship.

 

Elizabeth & Irwin Zekaria Deaf Education Scholarship [Need Based]

  • Must be an undergraduate or graduate student who has been admitted to a deaf education program within the COEHS.

  • Must have a cumulative GPA. of 3.0 or higher.

  • Must be enrolled full-time during the term(s) the award is used.

  • Must complete a FAFSA application (date submitted ____/____/_____) & demonstrate financial need.

  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.

  • Must attach a two-page typed essay explaining why you chose Deaf Education as a major.

  • Must consent to release grades to the Division of Institutional Advancement for the purpose of reporting to the donor.

Renewal:

Recipients may reapply and will be given preference pending availability of funding. 

  • Must enroll full-time each semester and earn an additional 24 credits for undergraduate students, or 18 credits for graduate students, by the end of each spring term

  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 for the junior and senior years and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for graduate study.

  • Must remain in good standing as a student.

  • No student will be eligible for more than eight semesters of scholarship support at the undergraduate level or two years at the graduate level depending on availability of funds.

 

Community Foundation Scholarship ($1,600 each)

  • Must be admitted in a college of Education and Human Services Special Education graduate program at time of application.

  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Must be enrolled in 6 credits.

  • Must be a Florida Resident.

  • Must consent to release grades.

  • •.Must attach a typed one-page statement of purpose.

  • Must attach two academic professional letters of recommendation.

 

Gladys Roddenberry Fellowships ($3,500 each)

  • Must be a full-time classroom teacher in a public or private school in Duval County who has taught for at least 3 and no more than 10 years.

  • Do you have a current State of Florida Teacher Certificate ?  YES_______   NO______

  • If you are intending to pursue a graduate degree at the UNF, do you meet the requirements for admission into the graduate program?  YES______  NO_______

  • Must initiate enrollment at UNF within one year of the date of receiving the award, and maintain continuous enrollment at UNF in order to maintain award eligibility.

  • Must attach a two-page typed double spaced person statement which answers the following questions

    •  How have you demonstrated commitment to your students?

    • How have you demonstrated commitment to your professional growth?

    • How have you demonstrated consistent high performance as a classroom teacher?

    • What are your professional goals in education?

    • How will this fellowship help you to achieve your professional goals?

  • Must attach one letter of recommendation from your current school principal.

  • Must attach formal written confirmation from a representative of each school board or district where you have taught to verify your years of teaching experience.

  • The annual amount of the Minority Teacher Education Scholarship is $4,000.
  • Awards are only disbursed during the Fall and Spring semesters, in the amount of $2,000 per semester.
  • Students may be eligible to receive the scholarship for up to two consecutive years.
  • Individuals who are selected for the MTES must:
    • Be a resident of the State of Florida.
    • Be a member of one of the following racial groups: African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian American/Pacific Islander, or American Indian/Alaskan Native.
    • Be newly admitted into a teacher education program at any of FFMT's participating universities/colleges.
    • Be a junior and have not earned a baccalaureate degree in education.
    • Have earned 60 credit hours or an AA degree.
    • Have not exceeded 18 hours of upper division education courses at the time of application (includes current semester enrollment).
