The overall committee consists of a minimum of four faculty members and all of them must participate in all stages of the work beginning with the Pre-proposal feedback session. Normally, the committee will consist of: 1) A Chair, who must hold chair status; 2) Two additional members of the Graduate Faculty who may or may not hold chair status; 3) A fourth member of the dissertation committee must be a UNF graduate faculty member from outside the College of Education and Human Services. The committee should have a designated content person, a methodologist (a faculty member who understands and has competence in the methodology adopted for the study). A member can serve multiple roles. The fourth member of the committee who must be from outside the College of Education and Human Services will serve as the additional quality control person. He or she will receive a memo from the Program Director to complete an independent report on the timelines, conduct, treatment of the student, quality and readiness of the final work for defense.
