• Certificate in Educational Leadership

Candidates who wish to complete coursework toward certification in school administration must complete six tasks (not necessarily in this order):

    (1) Interview with program director
Please call (904) 620-2990 to speak with the Program Director for Master’s degrees.

    (2) Writing sample

If writing skills are found to be deficient, a program of remediation may be required.

    (3) Successful application for graduate studies at the University of North Florida
Application procedures and materials can be found online at The Graduate School. Candidates may not register for coursework until they have been completely admitted to graduate studies and accepted by the program.

    (4) Principal Leadership Standard Inventory
This Inventory will be used to diagnosis missing leadership competencies and to prescribe coursework that must be completed. There are ten separate competencies represented on the inventory, one to match each of the ten Leadership Standards defined for principals in the State of Florida. Candidates should complete both available versions of the Inventory (initial and final) and report all results. The inventory can be found at www.floridaschoolleaders.org.

    (5) Florida Educational Leadership Exam (FELE)
Competencies that have been demonstrated on the inventory will not be officially recorded until the FELE has been successfully completed and the results officially reported to the Program Director.

    (6) Prescribed coursework
Each competency is linked to one course during which the knowledge and skills are provided. Candidates must complete a minimum of two courses and may have to complete a maximum of ten courses. The alignment between leadership standards and courses appears below.
