Fingerprinting Requirements & Information:
Introduction to Education
State rule (FS 1012.32 (2)(d)) states that students participating in
field experiences in school districts must be fingerprinted. These field
experiences include UNF students enrolled in EDF 1005, EDG 2701, EDF
3945, EDF 3946, TSL 4340, internship, all courses held at school sites
or that require students to work with children in a school setting.
The
school districts in conjunction with the university have developed
procedures for fingerprinting university students which must be
followed.
General Procedures
The cost of fingerprinting is $61.00 except for Nassau County which is $79.00. Payment may be made two ways:
- Credit card (Visa or MasterCard only) via the Internet www.flprints.com (24 hours a day) or calling 1-877-357-7456 (Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). Be sure to print out and bring the confirmation information to the fingerprinting appointment. OR
- Money order made out to Fingerprinting Services, LLC. The money order should be brought to the fingerprint appointment and given to the person processing the prints.
All fingerprinting must be completed by February 17 for students participating in field experiences during the spring semester. Students not fingerprinted by February 17 will not receive school placements and subsequently will not be able to complete course requirements. This will adversely affect your grade for the course.
Fingerprints at present can not be transferred from one district to another.
No student will receive a placement until they have received clearance from the district.
Active substitutes or persons presently employed by the district in which the clinical experience will be conducted should e-mail Dr. Cathy O’Farrell, Director of Educational Field Experiences, at cofarrel@unf.edu. You will need to provide your name and the position that you hold with the district. This information will be forwarded to the district for clearance approval.
