Dr. Williams' current research interests include minimizing the achievement gap among economically disadvantaged and economically advantaged children, book selections among economically disadvantaged children and their teachers, teacher effectiveness in improving literacy abilities among striving readers, and preservice teachers' awareness of a mainstream culture and their evolving commitment to culturally sensitive instruction.
