Prior to arriving at UNF, Dr. Jackson most recently held an administrative appointment as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Education at Florida A&M University, where he had years of experience as an academic administrator, including both department chair and associate dean experience. He also previously served as Program Coordinator of the Sport Management program at Florida State University. Dr. Jackson is an expert in sport management, a discipline very appropriate for this department, since nearly one-half of the department majors are pursing degrees in sport management. He has held graduate faculty appointments at four different universities (Howard, FSU, FAMU and UNF). He has published his scholarship in some of the leading journals within his field, including the International Journal of Sport Management, Sport Marketing Quarterly, Academic Athletic Journal, Strategies, International Journal of Sports Marketing & Sponsorship, International Sports Journal, and also in the Journal of Research on Minority Affairs, and the Journal of African American Studies. That he has maintained his scholarship while serving as an academic administrator is noteworthy. Dr. Jackson holds a solid record of teaching at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels; he has supervised clinical experiences of sport management students; and he has served on and chaired numerous master's and doctoral committees at Florida State, Florida A&M, and Howard. He has extensive experience in NCAA Division I coaching and served for a brief time as a NCAA D-I university athletic director, experience directly related to his field of sport management.
