Dr. Holt has concentrated on the effective uses of curriculum and instruction to prepare teachers and students for successful careers in education. His work focuses on restructuring teacher education through P-12 professional development classrooms and the uses of portfolio assessment and educational technologies to improve college and K-12 teaching and learning. His past research focused on competency-based education, the staff development of teachers, and teacher testing. Dr. Holt serves as a consultant to colleges and schools for the development of long-range plans, writing grants, and using electronic portfolios. He received a 2005 Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Technology.
