Weber, Christine Ph.D.College of Education and Human Services Department of Childhood Education Dr. Weber has a Master's Degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Gifted Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. Her Ph.D. is from Texas A & M University in Curriculum and Instruction. She teaches the following courses for PreK/Primary and Elementary majors and occasionally supervises interns:
She also helps teach the gifted endorsement courses through the Division of Special Education. She serves as a board member for Training and Supervision on the Florida Association for the Gifted and Talented. She also serves on the Editorial Review Board for Gifted Child Today. Her research interests include curriculum development and design, meeting the needs of gifted and advanced learners, and assessment of learning. She is currently co-chairing a statewide task force to develop curriculum frameworks for K-12 gifted learners. Dr. Weber has been the Principal Investigator for a grant funded through the Florida Department of Education focusing on "Working on Gifted Issues" for several years totaling $500,000. As a teacher educator, she strongly believes in helping students construct their own understanding of the essential knowledge and practices which lead to effective teaching. She focuses her attention on meeting the cognitive, social, and affective needs of the students through the planning of the content for the course, selection of the projects and activities that enhance understanding and develop skills, and the provision of opportunities to interact with students both in and out of class.
