Dr. Caroline Guardino is an assistant professor of Deaf Education at University of North Florida. She enjoys teaching courses in both Exceptional Student Education as well as Deaf Education. Her research interest involves working with Deaf students who have additional disabilities and helping teachers design their classroom environment to maximize academic engagement and minimize disruptive behavior.Dr. Guardino consults and conducts in-service training, lectures, and workshops for in-service and pre-service teachers at universities and schools across the nation. She has taught in California, Hawaii, and Arizona in a variety of settings including resource rooms, non-public schools, private institutions, universities, and specialized schools. In each of these settings she has embraced multi-cultural diversity as well as reaching out to students with additional needs in addition to deafness. Furthermore, due to the wide-ranging nature of hearing loss, she has had experiences working with students with various disabilities including learning disabilities, behaviorally challenged, severely handicapped, attention deficit disorder, autism, and students with intellectual disabilities. She enjoys teaching, creating curricula, and developing quality programs that meet the individual needs of students.
