The Master of Education (M.Ed.) at the University of North Florida is designed to meet the needs of students with a teacher certification who wish to pursue a graduate degree. The program of study consists of 6 semester hours of core requirements and 33 semester hours of major requirements. The advanced study program includes courses in the Florida Reading Endorsement.

 ADMISSION TO THE PROGRAM

 Applicants seeking admission to the College of Education and Human Services must have the following: a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution; and a composite score (verbal and quantitative sections) of 1000 on the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or a 3.0 GPA during the last 60 hours in their baccalaureate program (all students must take the GRE regardless of GPA). Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements for admission must apply under the college’s Exception Policy. 

 Applicants must also submit three letters of recommendation on letterhead and a copy of their current teacher’s certificate. All applicants seeking admission are required to meet with an academic advisor prior to admission. Contact the Office of  Academic Advising, room 2305, in Frederick H.  •        No more than 10 semester hours can be completed before a student is fully admitted, including a maximum of 6 semester hours of approved transfer credits from another institution.

 •        A student may receive credit for a course only once. However, the GPA will reflect all repeated courses.

 •        The College of Education and Human Services is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education.
