Florida Mental Health Counseling
Program. Whether you are an admitted
student or an individual investigating
various programs, the faculty will
endeavor to provide you with specific
information about the Mental Health
Counseling Program.
Mental Health
Counseling
Students
completing
the
Mental
Health
Counseling
track of
the
Counselor
Education
program
will
meet all
educational
requirements
for
licensure
in the
state of
Florida
as a
Mental
Health
Counselor
(LMHC).
As of
January
1, 2001,
all
individuals
applying
for
licensure
or
counseling
intern
status
will be
required
to have
met
educational
requirements
of
CACREP.
These
educational
requirements
include
1000
hours of
clinical
instruction.
Other
licensure
issues
and
requirements,
including
information
regarding
the
examination
process
and
post-masters
supervision,
will be
discussed
with
students
in
several
courses,
including
MHS
6407,
MHS
6700,
MHS
6800,
MHS
6830,
and MHS
6941.

The
Mental Health Counseling Track is accredited by the
Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs
(CACREP). Graduates of the program will have fulfilled the educational requirements for Florida certification as school counselors.
