HELLO The 30th year for the College of Education and Human Services and the University of North Florida resulted in remarkable achievements that we want to share with you. Heres a preview of what youll find in our 30th year annual report: Association of Teacher Educators (ATE) Award. Every year, ATE recognizes one program in the nation that exemplifies a collaboration between a university and a local education agency. This year, the COEHS in conjunction with the Duval County Public Schools received this prestigious award. Read more about this on page 17. The upcoming year will be full of more challenges. In March 2004 all programs in the COEHS will be examined as part of a joint continuing accreditation and program approval review, led by a team from the National Council on Accreditation of the Teacher Education (NCATE). We are working hard to meet new NCATE and Florida Department of Education requirements and are confident that we will be successful. Part of the process is development of a sophisticated electronic tracking system for outcome based assessment of student learning. I hope youll enjoy this report. We rely on you to enhance what we do for the First Coast through our students, faculty and programs. As the only nationally accredited college of education on the First Coast, we offer fine programs, made even stronger through the support of our alumni, students, faculty and friends. My heartfelt thanks,
Katherine Kasten, Ph.D. We rely on you to enhance what we do for the First Coast. |
