Department of Sociology & Anthropology Welcome to the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, a unit in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL. This website provides news and announcements about the department, profiles of our faculty, and information for students about advising, course offerings, and special events. Our department offices are located on the second floor of the new Social Sciences building (building 51). The main office is open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, EST. The department offers undergraduate majors and minors in Sociology and Anthropology, as well as a minor in Social Welfare. Our Masters program in Applied Sociology, inaugurated in 2003, provides training for graduate students who wish to pursue careers in social science research, or continue on for the Ph.D. We are located in Jacksonville, Florida, a thriving "New South" metropolis with a mild climate, abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation, and diverse cultural amenities.
