Participant Pool

Welcome Students!

UNF's Social Science buildingYou are about to link to the Psychology Department's software management program – SONA Systems. Sona Systems is a new web-based program for managing human subject pools. At the click of the button below you can easily log on and view all available studies in the Psychology Department. You may view descriptions of each study and qualifications needed in order to participate in these studies. You can volunteer to sign up for a particular study provided that you meet the qualifications for participation. The system will probably also block you from participating if you do not meet the requirements for eligibility. It will automatically send email messages to you with reminders about the times and the locations of studies. This system also allows your professors to access information about whether or not you have fulfilled your extra credit or course requirements.

Student – Faculty Research Opprtunities

Most faculty members in the Department of Psychology maintain active research labs. The following professors are interested in recruiting students to join their research teams:

Dr. Lynne Carroll

(lcarroll@unf.edu)

Undergraduate and graduate students are needed to assist with data collection, data entry, and library and web based literature searches. Minimum time commitment: 2-3 hours per week.

Dr. Dan Philip

(dphilip@unf.edu)

Research assistants are involved in a wide array of activities including reading and discussing relevant research and theory, literature reviews (via the web and library), instrument administration, data entry and analysis. There is potential for helping on manuscript preparation, depending upon the project and the student. Generally, students are needed for 2-3 hours per week per credit.

Dr. Juliana Leding

(jleding@unf.edu)

Students who work in the lab are responsible for reading and discussing articles relevant to the research we are conducting, running experimental sessions and coding and entering data.

Dr. Rebecca Marcon

(rmarcon@unf.edu)

Research Assistants (approximately 15) are needed at beginning of Summer A 2008 to work on the Florida Partners in Education and Research for Kindergarten Success (PERKS) research project funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Assistants will score children's standardized tests and classroom observationsof teachers, code data, check scoring and data coding, enter and check data using K-Edit and SPSS.

  • Time commitment: A minimum of 20 hours per week for approximately four weeks.
  • Payment: Once training is completed and mastery of required skills has been demonstrated, research assistants will be paid $7 per hour.
  • Work location: Psychology laboratory space on third floor of UNF Social Sciences building.
  • To apply: Contact PERKS lab manager, Amanda Thacker, thaa0004@unf.edu for details. Applications from current and former PERKS research assistants are strongly encouraged.

Dr. Dan Richard

(drichard@unf.edu)

Students interested in conducting research in my lab in the summer and fall of 2008 can expect to work on projects related to meta-analysis, implicit stereotypes, or cultural influences on dealing with contradiction. I have several existing data sets that are available for additional analysis, and I have new projects that require student project leaders. Student can expect to serve as experimenters collecting data from college students and/or to conduct library research on existing research. I meet weekly or as needed with my research lab or with research teams.
