Biomedical Pre-Professionals Program Advising

Freshman and Sophomore Advising

The staff in the UNF Academic Center for Excellence (ACE; Bldg. 2/room 1200) provides professional academic advising for all students who have earned less than 60 semester hours of academic credit.
Students meet with an advisor prior to registration to ensure their Osprey roadmap is on track and to develop custom course schedules.

Junior and Senior Advising

After attaining 60 semester hours of academic credit, students meet with an advisor appropriate for their majors.  Students majoring in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics meet with Ms. Wilma Case-Starks (Bldg. 59/room 3301).  These majors each have biomedical tracks to facilitate completion of professional school pre-requisites while obtaining a UNF academic degree.

Post-baccalaureate Advising

The UNF Biomedical Pre-professional Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program is ideal for individuals who wish to change careers and pursue a graduate degree in the health professions.  After admission to the Certificate Program, students meet with the Biomedical Program Director (Bldg. 59/room 3302) to develop a custom course schedule.  Post-baccalaureate students enrolled in programs other than the Biomedical Pre-professional Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program will meet with Ms. Wilma Case-Starks (Bldg. 59/room 3301) to develop a custom course schedule.

Biomedical Career Advising

It is important for students within the Biomedical Program (undergraduates, post-baccalaureates, and Biomedical Pre-professional Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program students) to meet with Dr. Judith Ochrietor, Ph.D., the Program Director (Bldg. 59/room 3302), throughout their academic careers and during the process of applying to professional programs.  Dr. Ochrietor is a member of the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP) and can provide students with up-to-date information and tips for a successful application.
