Our Mission: The mission of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration is to serve the State of Florida through excellent educational opportunities involving outstanding teaching, quality research, and effective civic engagement. The department focuses its resources to provide both undergraduate and graduate students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities for understanding, participating in, and managing the institutions, processes, and behaviors characteristic of national and international politics and public affairs. With excellent instruction as the highest priority, the department also supports extensive interaction with external constituencies through local, regional, state, and national professional service, and applied and theoretical research. The department is dedicated to maintaining program effectiveness for both students and community partners through continuous self-assessment and improvement. The Department: The Department of Political Science and Public Administration offers a bachelor's degree program in political science, plus minors in both political science and public administration. Announcements: The Master of Public Administration Degree Program was reaccredited in August 2007 by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) as being in conformance with national standards. The department also announces the establishment of a Non-Profit Management Certificate Program. This graduate level program is available for both students at UNF and for members of the Jacksonville and regional community. Check the link to the Graduate Program for more information. The department also welcomes Dr. Kyle Scott, Assistant Professor. Dr. Scott's research interests are in Public Law and Political Theory. Dr. Scott received his Ph.D. from the University of Houston. His previous appointment was at Miami University of Ohio. Distinguished Visiting Professor Nancy Soderberg will be conducting a Washington DC trip for twenty five political science students. The students have written a policy proposal and will present this proposal to policymakers in Washington. The students will meet with the National Security Council, the State Department and the Pentagon. Professor Soderberg is a former White House Advisor and UN Ambassador.
