The UNF philosophy Department will host a series of talks in January and February on Race and Gender theory as well as Comparative and Asian Philosophy. The lectures are part of the Department’s national searches in the respective areas of teaching and scholarship. Annual UNF Student Philosophy Conference

The Student Philosophy Conference takes place during a weekend in the spring, with students participating from Florida and other southern states, as well as from other areas of the country.

This is an exciting opportunity for UNF philosophy students to present their work as papers, to serve as chairs of sessions, and to meet students from across the country who share common academic interests. Two keynote speakers address the conference as a whole.

Philosophy Slam

The Philosophy Slam takes place each month, throughout the Fall and Spring semesters, at Fuel Cafe in 5 Points. This event is led by Dr. Wagner.

Plato Reading Group

The Plato reading group, formed in Spring, 1998, is led by Dr. Wagner. Both faculty and students are welcome to attend the group, which meets every two weeks.

The only requirements are an interest in Plato and preparation by reading the dialogue under discussion. So far, the group has read the Protagoras, Symposium, Phaedrus, Timaeus, Gorgias, and Meno. Once a year, all members converge on the Athens Cafe for a symposium, a highlight of the group's activities!
