Nick Ryan, director

Nick RyanNick is from Muskogee, OK and earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Oklahoma, and Master of Music degree from the University of Arkansas. During his time at Oklahoma, he was a member of the OU percussion orchestra, symphony orchestra, wind symphony, jazz band, marching band, African percussion ensemble, and steel drum ensemble. At the U of A his responsibilities included teaching the marching band, percussion ensemble, private lessons, and percussion techniques. Upon completing his undergraduate degree at Oklahoma, Nick was awarded the Ronald J. Dyer Award for outstanding undergraduate percussionist. Most recently, Nick has performed with the Enid Symphony and The Northwest Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, and stands as the academic advisor for the school of music, and director of athletic bands.

 

The Osprey Athletic Band is a pep band comprised of University of North Florida students that provides support for athletic teams, lively entertainment at athletic events, and represents the University of North Florida, University Bands, and the Athletics Department with class, enthusiasm, and professionalism. The band is one of the most visible ensembles in the School of Music, performing for over 10,000 people per year in the UNF Arena and around the city of Jacksonville. The band also travels with the team during the A-Sun tournament, and most recently traveled to Dayton, OH for the 2016 NCAA Tournament for men’s basketball. Osprey Athletic Band is open to all students on campus who play woodwinds, brass, electric bass, or drumset. We also provide generous scholarships to all members at the end of the season for successful participation!
