Assessment: Spring 2007All full-time and part-time faculty teaching a General Education course spring 2007 in the categories of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences will participate in this important assessment project. The General Education Task Force will review the data you provide; it will consider two over-arching questions: 1. Does the curriculum as a whole provide students opportunities to develop all the general education skills and knowledge? 2. What patterns emerge within the separate general education categories? FORMAT: Electronic Template: It will be available April 16-27. Deadline: APRIL 27 The Process: Four Steps Identify the two most important General Education Outcomes for your course. Those relevant to your course ought to be listed on your syllabus. [The entire list is available on this website.] Click on the two most important Gen Ed Outcomes on the Electronic Template (Available April 16-27). Step 2] Assignments: how do they build competencies? Provide the assignments for Step 3. How does your course help students develop these two outcomes? Indicate what the students do in the class to develop the outcomes you have identified as most important. The Template (available April 16-27) will allow you to input this text. Step 3] Student work: process this immediately—no need to wait until April 16. Provide four [4] examples of student work: two [2] examples for each outcome in step 1: an excellent piece of student work and a satisfactory example for each outcome. Bring your samples of student work to the COAS Dean’s Office 51-3300 as soon as you have them. Your documents will be scanned and loaded onto the template.
