I. A. Students should be able to think critically, reason soundly, and argue effectively, as demonstrated by the ability to: (1) analyze arguments according to standard criteria

Paper Assignment:  “Why I Should/Should Not Be A Critical Thinker,” 500 works.  You are asked to do three things in this paper.  First, explain what critical thinking is.  Second, give at least one solid, coherent argument for why one should/should not be a critical thinker.  Third, evidence your claim with concrete examples from your own life.

Faculty member discusses decisions oriented to improve student learning of the Gen Ed objectives.

III. C. Students should value ethical behavior, (1) acquiring knowledge and skills necessary for ethical judgment and its application to everyday life.

Paper Assignment:  “My Ethical System And Its Justification,” 1500 words.  You are asked to write out your own system of ethics.  Spend about 25% of the paper describing your system, and spend the other 75% justifying your system (essentially explaining to the instructor why he/’she should believe and follow your system).
