Summer 2007 FIG Offerings

This FIG Cluster is open only to those students who are admitted for SUMMER TERM 2007.

FIG Group 1 “Social Problems and Ethical Dilemmas” CRN: 51572

This FIG takes an unflinching look at many of the most hotly contested issues in our society, and uses sociology to analyze how people deal with these concerns. Has crime been getting worse? Is the gap between rich and poor growing? To what extent does racism persist? Are women approaching equality with men? Are people less religious than they were a generation ago? We will attempt to address all these questions, and look at how grappling with these issues has shaped the contemporary United States, as well as other societies across the world and throughout history.
