Center for Science and the Public

The mission of the Center for Science and the Public at the University of North Florida is to improve public understanding of science and the scientific process.

Do you know what science is?

Do you know what a scientific theory is?

Do you know how a scientific theory differs from a scientific fact (which it does!)?

Do you know how science differs from other ways of knowing about the world?

To find out the answers to these questions and more, follow the "What is Science?" link on the left of this page. (The "What is Science?" page is currently under construction, but should be ready soon.)

Among the other activities of the Center for Science and the Public are the Jacksonville Joe Berg Seminars, a community partnership with UNF. The Joe Berg Seminars are attended by select high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and feature biweekly presentations in the sciences and the humanities given by local experts in those fields. Follow the link on the left of this page for more information about the Jacksonville Joe Berg Seminars.
