Criminology & Criminal Justice
- Cecil Greek's Criminal Justice Links. An enormous compendium of links covering all aspects of the criminal justice system, including courts, forensics, drugs, and everything else. This is one of the most comprehensive CJ portals on the web. The Cybrary of Criminal Justice Links is a similar site with a large collection of links categorized topically.
- National Justice Reference Service. This is another gargantuan mega site for criminal justice. Exhaustive links to government agencies, think tanks, data archives, interest groups, etc. There are plenty of resources for those interested in courts, drugs and crime, crime statistics, and more.
- Textbook publisher Allyn & Bacon maintains quite a few links in the areas of criminal justice, sociology of deviance, and violence and abuse.
- The Open Directory Project maintains thousands of criminology links, covering not only the fields of sociology, but other disciplines that deal with crime. There are also links to a number of academic papers, and international criminal justice sites.
- Bureau of Justice Statistics. An extensive list of publications and online tables are available from this U.S. government site. More of the same can be found in the Sourcebook of Criminal Justice Statistics. Requires the Adobe Acrobat reader.
- This site is devoted to criminological theory. The pages summarize major schools of thought in criminological theory, and introduce the major theorists. A great place to go if you're writing a paper for a deviance or criminology class.
- Lots of sites deal with drugs and the war on drugs. The Drug Policy Alliance is one of the best places to go if you want to learn about drugs from a policy reform standpoint. The Schaffer Library and the Media Awareness Project also provide extensive information on drug policy reform. The most informative government sites include the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
