Dr. Kareem Jordan

Kareem Jordan

Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice (Ph.D., Indiana University of Pennsylvania).

I received my Ph.D. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in May 2005 and soon thereafter, joined the faculty at UNF in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice.

My research and teaching interests include juvenile justice and delinquency, criminological theory, delinquency prevention, race and crime, and quantitative methods and statistics. However, my first love is juvenile justice and delinquency, which is why my dissertation examined the topic of juvenile transfer to adult court, but specifically on decertification to juvenile court. Juvenile decertification is an under-researched area, and I am thoroughly enjoying making a dent in this topic. I also spent a couple of years working as a mobile therapist and behavior specialist consultant for “at risk” youth who were diagnosed with a behavioral and/or psychiatric disorder.

Aside from teaching and research, I like being involved in both university and community service and activities. I enjoy helping to build a better department, better university and better community. I have been involved in several community organizations, which is consistent with my passion for intervening in the lives of youth in a positive way.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I also love playing and watching basketball, and considering I was born and raised in the City of Brotherly Love (Philly,) my favorite NBA team is the 76ers. I also enjoy football, and my favorite NFL team is the Eagles!  In addition, I enjoy playing video games, specifically NBA Live, Madden, and Fight Night. I would like to think that I am a person who can enjoy both work and life.
