Michael A. Hallett
Michael Hallett is Chair and Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice. He was recently presented the Gandhi, King, Ikeda Award from Dr. Lawrence Carter, Dean of the Martin Luther King Jr International Chapel at Morehouse College, for his work and research on race and imprisonment. Morehouse College is the alma mater of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Gandhi-inspired theologian Howard Washington Thurman.

Dr. Michael Hallett is Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice and Chair of the Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice. Dr. Hallett is also Director of the Center for Criminal Justice Policy Research . Dr. Hallett has published three books and over 25 academic articles or book chapters. He has been a consultant to such national organizations as the American Judicature Society and the National Center for State Courts and regularly works with criminal justice organizations in policing, courts, and corrections. His third book, Private Prisons in America: A Critical Race Perspective was recently published by University of Illinois Press.
