Departmental Scholarships

HERCULES ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS

The Department of Biology is offering one or more full and partial tuition scholarships (typically up to $1000) endowed by the Hercules Foundation for the 2009/2010 academic year.  Scholarships plus some book allowances are available for declared academic majors in Biology who plan to pursue a career in biology, professional school or graduate school following graduation.  Candidate students should meet the following minimum qualifications:

  1. Declared major in Biology.
  2. Sophomore, Junior, or Senior class standing during the

     2009/2010 academic year.

  1. Fulltime student status taking a minimum of 12 hours at UNF during the 2009 Fall and 2010 Spring terms.
  2. Minimum overall GPA of 3.00 and minimum GPA of 3.00 in major with a minimum of 1 semester completed at UNF.
  3. Reside in Florida for tuition purposes.

Interested candidates should complete a formal application available in the department office (See Mary Bracey).  Return it with a copy of your transcripts (unofficial is fine) to the following faculty:

The deadline for application submission is Monday, November 16; scholarship awards will be announced by Tuesday, November 24.   

 

EDDY M. SKOLFIELD SCHOLARSHIP

$2,000 to a Biology major

To apply for this scholarship you must:

  • Be a junior or senior level biology major.
  • Be a full-time student taking at least 12 credit hours in Fall 2009 and Spring 2010.
  • Have completed a FAFSA application online.
  • Be a legal Florida resident for tuition purposes.
  • Complete an application packet including:
    • An application form.
    • A brief statement describing your interest in a career in science.
    • Two letters of support.
    • A copy of your current transcript.
