Dates and Deadlines 


The COAS Curriculum Committee will meet five times in Fall 2015 and four times in Spring 2016.  The deadline for our receipt of packages is one week prior to each meeting date, so that committee members may review the package before the meeting. Those dates are below. Packages approved by our committee on Friday October 2 and Friday October 9 will be eligible for inclusion in the Fall 2016 Catalog.  Packages approved on February 5 will be eligible for consideration at the last Spring meeting of the Faculty Association, April 7.

Submitting and Approving Items in the APC Workflow System


The APC Workflow System (APCWfS) is the online platform for APC submissions and is here:

Getting your package to the committee means that the original creator of the package (called the “Requester”) should complete the package and press the “Process Package” button. It then moves to the department chair (called the “Pre-College Station”), who approves it by “Process Package” and then “Move to College Station”.


Once it arrives in the College Station, it appears in the COAS Curriculum Committee’s queue. If you ever wish to confirm that your item is in our queue, you can

  1. Email either of the co-chairs and ask, or
  2. Go to the APCWfS, click All Packages in the APCWfS in the left menu, click on the Department heading to sort by department, click on your submission, choose View Package History, and note the event timestamp stating when the package entered the College Station. Any COAS item in the College Station submitted by the meeting deadline will be addressed at the meeting.


Making Sure Your Item Gets Approved 


During the COAS Curriculum Committee’s  weeklong review period, please do check the comments posted on your package. These comments have led to significant dialogue and problem-solving prior to the meeting, and often issues are fixed in time for the corrected package to be passed quickly at the meeting.


The committee strongly encourages you to attend the actual meeting at which your item will be considered, in order to answer questions and clear up concerns. Meeting times/dates/locations are above.


You may have heard rumors about the pickiness of this committee regarding semicolons, grammar, and other such matters. Our aim really is to help. We have been told that at the final stages of state approval in Tallahassee, the submissions have to be near-perfect. So our committee’s goal is not only to approve packages quickly, but also to assist departments in getting the paperwork absolutely right so that it easily passes the APC committee, Tallahassee, and any other approval stages.
