Teaching the Military History Survey Course

A Selection of Syllabi

This index of sample course syllabi for Military History Survey courses was originally provided as background for a panel discussion held at the 27-30 April 2000 meeting of the Society for Military History - but we hope it will also be useful to anyone interested in the subject. To be indexed here, a syllabus must come from someone who has been teaching a survey military history course in a higher education (college /university /service academy) setting for at least three years.

This page is a work in progress; send suggestions to Dale Clifford, who maintains it. Last updated 23 January 2001.
