In this course we will cover the basics of investment planning, investment concepts and terms, investing for major financial goals, creating an investment portfolio, assessing risk, responding to market volatility, asset allocation, dollar cost averaging, six keys to more successful investing, investing in stocks and bonds, mutual funds, mutual fund basics and mutual fund share classes, other investments and taxation of investments.

Jim Newman is senior vice president of wealth management for Janney Montgomery Scott, LLC, with over 21 years’ experience as a licensed financial advisor. He graduated from Wharton Business School with an accreditation in wealth management. He is a certified senior advisor and a certified divorce financial analyst. He has written articles for the Jacksonville Business Journal and appeared as an expert for television stations WTLV NBC 12 and CBS 47.
