Summary
The Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens is a 120-acre natural sanctuary in East Arlington known as “Jacksonville’s Hidden Jewel.” Within its boundaries, over two miles of walking trails meander through 13 distinct ecosystems. This course explores the wonders of the Arboretum with three 90-minute lectures followed by an ED-venture – a guided tour of this beautiful urban forest in the midst of our city. Topics include an introduction to the Arboretum, its flora and fauna and activities at the Arboretum. In addition to the instructor, an Arboretum board member and a naturalist will lead discussions.

Gail Beveridge is the Jacksonville Arboretum’s marketing and develop- ment director and a board member. She served as event co-chair for “A brush with Nature,” a plein-air painting invitational held from March 20-31, 2012, at the Arboretum.
