Instructor Spotlight
Brett Harper
Brett has nearly 30 years of business experience in logistics, finance, operations and sales, with the first half of his career spent in working for companies such as Smith Barney, American Hospital Supply, and Frito-Lay.
Brett formed R&B Business Services in 2007 in conjunction with his partner Ron Shamlaty. Recently, they formed an alliance with UNF to develop and expand the University's Continuing Education logistics training program.
Brett spent the second half of his career at APL Logistics (formerly GATX Logistics), where he was general manager, regional vice president of operations, and later, vice president of contract business development. During his tenure at APL/GATX, he was responsible for many facets of the business, including logistics operations, major account management, start-ups, proposal development, engineering, and sales management.
Ron Shamlaty
Ron has more than 40 years of logistics, sales, marketing, and training experience. He spent 21 years with Xerox (known for its training and development programs) and six years as president and COO of Jim Walters Papers. Prior to co-founding R&B, he spent the last 17 years with APL Logistics (formerly GATX Logistics), first as vice president of public warehousing operations, and later as vice president of worldwide marketing.
Ron is a certified trainer in Major Account Management through Miller Heiman, a widely recognized sales performance company, SPIN and other training tools.
Through UNF, Ron and Brett are training students for accreditation in the American Society of Transportation and Logistics' Certificate of Transportation and Logistics (CTL) program. This is in addition to other courses taught in logistics, leadership, sales development, and consulting.
